This Chardonnay is sourced from the beautiful & picturesque Courtney’s Vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills, California. Sta. Rita Hills, which is located in Santa Barbara County, is situated in the westernmost section of the Santa Ynez Valley, with the Purisima Mountains to the north and the Santa Barbara Mountains to the south. Its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean provides early-forming, late-dissipating maritime fog and brisk, daily ocean breezes which allow average daily temperatures to rarely top 75° F, making this one of the coolest wine growing regions in the world. Additionally, with elevations that range from sea level to 1800 feet, Sta. Rita Hills has some of the most diverse soil composition in California, with an abundance of marine sand, loam, clay, and limestone found in various areas of this AVA. Given these conditions, Sta. Rita Hills is widely regarded as one of the premier growing regions in the world for Chardonnay. The De Fina Family Cellars 2013 Chardonnay is a medium-bodied wine that is rich with balanced acidity. A tantalizing aromatic bouquet of strong citrus and floral notes will entice you. Your palate will then dance with ripe stone fruit flavors and a touch of minerality.
